The technology has been long used in gaming, entertainment zone, training airline pilots and by scientists to figure out complex problems but the use of it in marketing is really outlandish and applaudable. It provides a unique opportunity to advertisers to completely immerse their audience. Companies like McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Disney and many more have applied VR into marketing campaigns. Retailers like IKEA and Wayfair have developed such VR systems through which consumers can see that how the product will look when fitted into their homes. Rather OnePlus has become the first company to launch a product in July 2015 by using VR.

Much simpler, VR is simply a 3D computer-created world that can be explored and felt both mentally and physically and in order to achieve this, it essentially needs to be interactive, believable and immersive. Now, how does it work? VR headsets like PlayStation VR or Oculus Rift are often referred to as HMDs, which simply means head-mounted displays. These HMDs may look like a welding visor or motorbike helmet but is solely responsible for making you view a 3D virtual environment with no boundaries. It consists of two small screens, one in front of each eye, a blackout blindfold which blocks all other light and stereo headphones which give you a real feel of the virtual world. The already built-in position sensors detect the position and orientation of your body and adjust the picture accordingly. The video is sent from the console or computer to the headset through an HDMI cable and the glorified things or scenes become alive for you to explore.
To reach for and touch something which is so fancy and exclusive has been a big development in the world of VR. Datagloves have given the ability to handle virtual objects. They are ordinary gloves with sensors wired outside so that they can figure out the motions of the hands and fingers. Much simpler than this and another evolution in this field are wands. This is a stick you can use to touch, point to, or otherwise interact with the virtual world. It has motion sensors along with scroll wheel mouse-like buttons and a wireless facility.
Thus, virtual reality is literally a dreamy escape from reality which stimulates all your senses and lets you breathe in an entirely new world. Like many other technologies, even VR has taken little or almost nothing from the real world, still, many critics raised the point that people are enticed to these alternative relatives so much that they have started neglecting their real-world lives. But at the same time, this hard-edged practical technology has been of great assistance and profit in the fields of different professionals. So, everything that exists has its good or bad but in the end, it is on you to use it constructively.
