Initially the concept was announced by Google in 2012 and that time, it was considered to be a “vapourware”, something which would never come to fruition.   The Glass was supposed to be released in 2013, but that didn’t come about. Google released some pairs for the testing purpose, and you may see some people wandering in US streets wearing Google Glasses.There is no official release date is announced by Google so far, but it is anticipated that the glasses will hit the market by end of this year. In an official announcement, the firm said: “This marks the next phase in the evolution of Glass as we move towards a wider consumer launch later in 2014.”

  The glasses sold so far were sold for $1,500, but that was for the testing purpose. The actual price of Google Glass will be less that this – how much less, we don’t know.

What can Google Glass do?

The glass wears the HUD, a camera, microphone and GPS. This combination makes it a strong device and capable of doing various tasks, very much similar to smartphones.

You can use your voice to operate the glass. It can take a picture or send messages on your voice instructions. It can also record video, make Google searches, give directions, translate your voice and perform a Google Hangout video call. The Google Glass is also featured with Google Now which can provide you information even before you search for it. New apps are being developed which will make it even more potent.

Is there a Google Glass app?

Yes, there is an app namely MyGlass which is compatible with Google Glass. The app requires Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher version. The app is used to configure and manage the glass.
